If you open Xerte and click on the Templates menu, then select Page
Templates, you will create a template based project that offers you an
interface virtually identical to that used in Xerte On-line toolkits.
However you will not be able to combine the use of the template driven
pages with access to the desktop Xerte interface for the creation of
bespoke pages.
However there is an alternative, you can use page wizards.
You can download the page wizards from the Xerte wiki's page wizards
page.
After downloading the file unzip it and place the folders in the wizard
folder of your Xerte installation
(normally c:\program files\xerte\wizards)
Now when you open Xerte you will see under the Templates menu some more
options, grouped under menu headings that are prefixed a), b), etc.
To use a page wizard you select the interface icon of your project and
then click on the Templates menu. Select the page wizard that you want
to use and when prompted create a folder within your project folder for
the wizard files to be saved to.
You will now have a new page in your Xerte project, with a circle shape
showing on the page icon. This indicates the page is wizard based.
Double click on the page icon and the wizard interface will open, to
give the same type of form you get in Xerte On-line toolkits. By using
wizards you retain the access to the icon level interface whilst also
having the benefits of wizard driven pages. You can also see the
underlying icon structure of the pages and the action script that drives
them. So page wizards are a good way of learning more about how xerte
pages are constructed.
Kind regards

Subject: [Xerte] Toolits templates for Desktop Xerte?
Can I install the templates that come with Toolkits for use on my
standalone Xerte application? If so, are there instructions? Thanks.
