[Xerte] strange behaviour in xwd form

Many thanks for taking a look at the files and responding so quickly.

You were right about using, or rather not using "name" as an attribute
value, as soon as I changed it to tabLabel the form ordered itself
correctly.

I will download the latest version and try it out to see if that
resolves the problem with the number of optional parameters.

I can't help but think it might be easier to add different types of
sub-page (image, FlashPaper, etc), and then there won't be the need for
so many options. The model is the same, and your logic is the same, more
or less, but it's clearer to the end user what you are doing.

I am sure you are right. The wizard suffered from some scope creep.
Initially the idea was to just add options to provide routing. The tabs
already support images and hence swfs. The flashPaper was something that
seemed an easy extra (I naively thought it was just another swf) but it
proved quite challenging to get it to behave, as if I allowed the
graphic to be resized before the flashPaper was recognised then this
affected the scaling factor for the flashPaper with undesirable results.

Most of the optional properties are designed to allow users to position
and size the text and graphic elements and to provide useful information
during the development phase that can be turned off when in live use.

I am learning all the time but this wizard really departs very little
from the original model for the tabbed navigation. I have not yet got my
head around how I might add a number of different page types to the same
tab, such that some tabs would use one part of the model, whilst others
used a different part. If you have anything that might provide an
example I would love to see it.

The other factor has been time. As usual the idea for a new wizard came
out of a need for functionality that was not currently available in a
wizard. Now I have to pull away from the wizard development for a while
and start creating some content with it. The content creation is the
final testing for the new wizard before I release it into the wild. I
will also be providing a simple navigation model that can be added to
the interface that has a LIFO queue based back button as this may be
more appropriate than next, previous and TOC buttons for pages that have
their own routing.

Kind regards

Johnathan

Yeah, the bug with the depths is fixed - previously there was only space
for 20 controls and labels - now there is space for 180. Download the
latest build.

Name always appears at the top I think. So if you don't want the first
one split by the optional ones, don't use the nodeName 'name'. Check
that for me, as I haven't time today to mock it up,

I see the problem with the labels -that's a depth issue I'll fix when I
get a chance.

What do you think?

No problem.

Please find a sample project with one page using the wizard attached to
this email.

Kind regards

Can you send a sample project, so I can just run the wizard?

I have a xwd file and associated xml file.

They are developed from the tab navigation files and provide an
additional layer of nesting - a page has several tabs and each tab can
have several option radio buttons.

Everything works OK when I open the xwd file to populate the xml file
except that

1) When I select an optional parameter and add it on the nested tab
form, instead of appearing at the top of the parameter list they appear
below the first compulsory parameter, splitting the compulsory
parameters. With other forms optional parameters always appear above the
compulsory parameters.

2) After 6 or 7 optional parameters are added either the label for the
compulsory parameter that has been separated from the other compulsory
parameters, ceases to be displayed, or the label is displayed and the
value is not displayed. Deletion of any of the optional parameters
appears then to allow the display once more of the missing items.

I have opened both the xwd and xml files in XML Marker and no xml errors
are returned. So what am I missing?

I have attached a zip file containing the .xcp wizard file and a jpg
file illustrating what is happening.

Any ideas would be most welcome.
