[Xerte] Generating pop up windows and alert messages from Xerte

Is there a logic in allowing a root function call to something like
popup(string) and confirm(string)?

Is there a simple way in Xerte of opening up a pop up window in which a
graphic or text could be displayed?

I have been looking at the V2 components demo as a possible solution,
but it lacks either an alert or window example. I have tried to get
either working without any success.

Anyone any ideas?
