1. The content is all stored in the .rlo file
2. We have our own repository, Xpert, at http://xpert.nottingham.ac.uk
3. Not sure what you mean by search. I'd sequence them by creating links to them in a web page, or by creating a sequenced SCORM package. 
4. Use the SCORM get / set data functions. See the help file
5. Xerte doesn't really compare with Reload, even though a lot of people say it does: they do different things. Reload does not create content, it creates IMS and SCORM packages of content. eXe and Xerte are like Dreamweaver and Flash - different content creation tools, with a different emphasis on various aspects of ceating content.
