[Xerte] XOT questions

1) How does the code know who you are logged in as? It stores a
series of values in the session variable

2) Define "see" - you can only see other users of the system via an
RSS feed, or in the sharing page on properties

3) Everyone gets their view of their work. No shared folders. Blank
templates can be limited to appear to only certain people.

Pat,

Just got a few questions about XOT:

1. How do you know who you are logged in as?

2. Can you see what other accounts exist? Are access permissions
set per-account?

3. Do different users have different 'views' or is it just one
development area?

Cheers mate,

Paul

If you already have a database with passwords in authenticating against
it is easy peasy

Hi Adam,

We are currently in need of a solution for this too, we would like to
authenticate against an existing mysql database. Maybe we could put our
heads together on this? I'll have a look at the code this afternoon and
let you know how far I get with it...

Cheers,

Paul

Ah, I thought they might be a simple authentication against users stored
in the database. I guess I could code one?

It takes LDAP by default if you use index.php

if you want you can use integration.txt to write your own system,
demo.txt to use no authentication, or switch.txt to run a crude hard
coded system.

Or there is a moodle patch.

Thanks Pat

No, I don't want to use LDAP. I left all the LDAP fields as default
which I presume means it's not trying to authenticate that way?

Or am I missing the fact it'll only authenticate using LDAP?

Hmm I've installed XOT on ISS (at http://elearning.net.marjon.ac.uk/rlo/
) and ran through the full setup without problems. However when I try to
login using my admin account (which I specified in the setup) I get a
"The website cannot display the page HTTP 500" error.

Anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Adam

In .rlt we have an event handler for onOpenPage.

We need to know the "current page" that we are on so that we can update
page titles and a progress bar. We currently have:
extXML.firstChild.childNodes[rootIcon.getPageIndex()] which is always
returning "0" or the first page...

How do we extract the current page number? Or current XML generated page
that is being displayed? (from template.xml)

We can get the total number of pages (childNodes) from
extXML.firstChild.childNodes.length but not the current page being
displayed.
