[Xerte] sub/super script?

Cheers Paul.
Could create a more specific class, but what if I have (as shown) a word midway through the sentence I want to style?
The standard tags <B></B> for instance function as expected when nested inside a selector.
It's only when I nest a self-defined selector inside another I get that line feed.
It is being styled as expected, but that line feed appears.
:-/
I could also have left it as regular font tags, but I've got 30+ modules to deal with and I'd much rather have a single point of style control for them all. :-)

I use <font color=”red”><u>underlined red
text</u></font> which seems to work fine. It’s not CSS,
though. Have you tried creating a combined style:
redBold {color: #ff0000; font-weight: bold;}
I learned something from you … I didn’t realize you
could create your own tags in that way. I was disappointed that the Flash
player didn’t support the <span> tag, as that is an easy way to
apply a style class. Being able to create your own tag accomplishes much the
same thing as defining a class.
Cheers

Thanks Paul.
Another CSS for dummies question.
It seems if I nest selectors, it creates a line feed:
<ss16_text>The number of protons in the nucleus determines the
<red><B>atomic number</B></red> and name of an element.
<BR><BR>Since there are over 100 known elements, chemists have
developed a system by which each element is represented by a symbol.
</ss16_text>
Appears as
The number of protons in the nucleus determines the atomic
number
and name of an element.
If I take out the <red> selector, it acts as expected.

I haven’t tried this myself, but there is an apparent
solution. There is a company that has developed both superscript and a
subscript fonts. Not free, but pretty cheap ($9.90 US for each). You would have
to embed the fonts in Xerte, since the end user wouldn’t normally have
them on their system.
The website is http://superscriptfont.com/
There are examples of how you would use them on their website.
Personally, I’ve only needed to use the trademark and
registered trademark symbols, and I’ve just used a smaller font size and
let it be in-line with the rest of the text.

Don’t get me started on sub / super script.
The Flash Player does not support it and it is a real big
problem when you work for University.

Sorry, pretty weak when it comes to html/css/dhtml
I've tried:
m
<span style="vertical-align: super;">m</span>
and vertical-align: super as a selector in the CSS.
No joy.
