Hi Niall, 

Sounds like you've got an LDAP problem as well.

Could you rename demo.txt as show with marc and give it a try.

I have now successfully completed the installation and am also getting a
white screen with the number '1' and nothing else after entering user name
and password (which were rejected)

(To get this far ... I had to manually set permissions on database.php and
also edit the name of the database - which was incorrect in database.php)

Hi Pat

Thank you for your help:

i had to chmod database.txt now it worked. but if i go to the login screen
and enter the username/pw provided in step 3 i got a blank white screen. :-(
