[Xerte] Addressing individual elements in a drawing

I was thinking desktop - I had not thought it would be possible in
Toolkits.
At the moment I am focussing my learning on desktop without using
Templates.
However I have colleagues who I will be introducing to Xerte Toolkits or
Templates as the raw Xerte will probably be a bridge to far for them. So
I am also interested in extending my capabilities in that direction.
Kind regards
Johnathan

Subject: [Xerte] Addressing individual elements in a drawing
Is there any more information available on how to interact with shapes
in a drawing?
Many of the drawing functions appear, unless I have misunderstood this,
to be aimed at making the drawing tools available to the end user.
What I want to do is to be able to reference individual shapes within a
drawing, so that I can modify them (change size, rotate, alter alpha
etc) or add new shapes using script.
I would like to be able to identify specific shapes so that if a user
rolls over them or clicks on them I can capture the event to be used in
scripts.
Is this kind of thing possible and if so how.
A few pointers in the right direction would be very useful.
Kind regards
Johnathan.
