It really depends what assumptions the quiz templates are making about
where they will be running. If the code in there wasn't designed to cope
with playing in a different part of the movielip hierarchy than the one
envisaged, then it's tricky to resolve it.
You could link to the swf files directly and open them in a new window
if they play OK on their own?

Julian,
Opening in a component icon does have an effect. The .swf now accepts
the first interaction and moves to the next frame but doesn't get beyond
the next interaction.
I'll have a go at generating a new .swf using the same Flash Quiz
template and see how that behaves.
