For info… we haven’t done a session with OSI yet, so possibly a good opportunity to introduce ourselves to a slightly different audience,

OSI Affiliates and Sponsors,

tl;dr: We want to showcase your open source projects via a monthly webinar. Contact me to learn more.

As I hope you've noticed the OSI is growing: increasing membership, almost fifty Affiliate Members, over twenty Corporate Sponsors, and more interest across both traditional and social media.

This growth has enabled the OSI to expand our advocacy and support of open source projects and communities. One exciting area of development has been our Working Groups and Incubator Programs, which focus on the creation of shared resources for open source communities, development practices, licensing or any other non-code aspect of the open source ecosystem.

As part of this effort, the OSI—through the gracious support of organizations like yours—provides infrastructure and resources that allow these Working Groups and Incubator Projects to organize, collaborate and create artifacts that further the OSI's mission and the open source movement.

We'd like to showcase these tools (i.e. your projects) through a monthly webinar that we will host and promote. The goals are to, 1. highlight the resources available though the Working Group and Incubator Project program to increase participation, and 2. promote your projects and expand your community among OSI members, affiliates, sponsors and everyone else involved in, not only open source, but the technology sector.

For example, currently we offer our Working Groups and Incubator Projects access to BigBlueButton, a web conferencing and desktop sharing application; In-cubator, groupware providing collaboration tools to build ideas and communities; XWiki, a full featured wiki for documentation and co-creation, and many others. These projects, as well as projects from our other affiliates and sponsors, are invited to demonstrate their software to the OSI community in order to raise awareness about your work and to build bridges across the open source community.

In addition, considering the tremendous amount of work going on across all of the OSI Affiliate Members, we'd like to extend this invitation to all of our Affiliate Members—everything from the AD Model Builder, “a powerful software package for the development of state-of-the-art nonlinear statistical models,” to the Xerte Project, “tools for elearning developers and content authors producing interactive learning materials.”

Many of our Affiliates are quite well known, but might have new initiatives they are just starting up: let us help get the word out though an OSI sponsored webinar!

Some of our Affiliates are just starting up, or only serve a small sector: we want to promote your work and help grow your community of interest via an OSI sponsored webinar.

If you're interested please contact me (Patrick Masson) at, masson at opensource.org<mailto:masson at opensource.org> so we can schedule your webinar to demo your project and discuss the details.

Thank you so much for your continued support of the OSI,
Patrick Masson
