Hello all,
Sorry not been very active on here recently... Had my appendix removed on Friday after a few grumbling weeks but on the mend...
Re this code, that whole file is lifted from Wordpress so if we can't include any GPL then it should be removed. There are numerous hook points throughout the PHP though that will have to be dealt with although it would be good to keep them and just test for the availability of the relevant function...
Although plugins have never really got past the theory stage, one area they have been useful for me has been debugging on a live system - I've always had a bit of an issue that we have to turn development mode on which causes problems on a live system but you can quickly create a plugin which either turns development mode on ONLY for a specific template id(s) or does stuff only on the LOs that you want it to... It can probably be used for a lot of stuff that we haven't thought of yet too, especially when we come to rewrite the workspace...
It would be relatively trivial to rewrite that file as it is just a pub/sub handler...
I'm not that fussed either way though... If its easier to just rip out all the code then feel free...

I think large parts are copied from WordPress, he mentioned it in an email - so searching the archive would say

No, John added it in to duplicate the way WordPress does plugins, WordPress Plugin code completely separate

Pat should have the answer to that, and also whther we want to keep on supporting that. I assume it's introduced when he cerated the Wordpress plugin.

I can’t find a license in wp_plugins.php?
Did it come from wordpress? Wordpress is itself GPL, so presumably that’s what wp_plugins is.

And wp_plugins.php

Guys,
I have started going through all the folders looking for licensing issues: basically I’ve got a list of them, and am trying to identify whether each folder is problematic or not.
I’ll have further questions, but for now I’m just trying to tick off the easy ones.
Do you know if all the php / js in \website_code was written by us, mostly Pat I guess? Looking through, it all looks OK, just want to be sure here’s nothing lurking in there from 3rd parties. It would be a good folder to tick off.
Just for future reference if you’re thinking of integrating anything into the software, and I think you all know this already, but we absolutely have to avoid any GPL / LGPL code. Happily, all the components / frameworks / fonts / etc in \modules are all licensed compatibly.
