Hi Ron,

Thanks for that. What it means is that there might be a problem with the moov_relocator code that hasn't been picked up before. I always wondered what would happen with a badly formed mp4 or possibly one with a newer structure (if there is such a thing) given that the moov_relocator project hasn't had any updates in a while.

If you will persevere with me for a bit then i'll create you a new file that avoids the moov_relocator until I can find a way to catch a problem and fallback to the original...

Can you try uploading the two mp4 files (I will send to you offlist) to see how they behave? They definitely work and then i'd be grateful for a copy of the one that doesn't work if that would be ok so that I can try to track down the problem before the release, or else remove it until afterwards.

Just thought of something. Do you have error logging turned on in management? If you turn it on and try uploading then you should get lots of error messages that might lead us to a conclusion.

Hi John
I just replied to your earlier message so overlapping replies but...

good point I just tried uploading an flv and that worked fine. What does that mean? mp4's uploaded to the same server have been fine previously.

I dropped an export from github over the top (with some files like auth_config etc removed.

Project folder definitely has a media folder.

Cheers
Ron

Hmm.

Just installed from github in xampp and mp4 upload works for me...

Can you upload other file types ok? Is it just mp4s that are causing the error message.

Did you do a complete reinstall or just certain folders? Or drop the new one over the top?

Also, check that the folder created in USER-FILES for the project has a media folder - it was missing in the transfer to Github but should be fine now.

Hi Ron

There should be any permissions to change since it does the manipulations in the upload folder.

Can you delete the temp file that is created, upload again and see if it reappears - to test whether the upload is getting through.

I will download and test right now for you.

Hi John
I've pulled and exported the latest develop and put that in place.
Now via the editor I get failed to upload. Check permissions.
Is there a permissions change that I need to make somewhere?

Hi Ron,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you… this commit lists the file changes that have been made https://github.com/thexerteproject/xerteonlinetoolkits/commit/5150fa252f54f768848c4d95609c3957f9180ad5

You can get the files by clicking on the [View file @ 5150fa2] button at the side of each upload.php file (although both should be identical).

Basically you want the NEW upload.php file in both:

modules/site/engine/upload.php and in
modules/xerte/engine/upload.php

and then you need to move the contents of the MoovRelocator folder from

/modules/xerte /engine/tools/moovrelocator to
/library/MoovRelocator

You can then delete the folder at /modules/site/engine/tools/moovrelocator as both upload.php files should now reference the shared library.

I’ve tried this with lots of different mp4s and these changes seem to now be working fine and consistently so I will be very interested to hear how you get on as it’s not really made it into the mainstream yet…

You might also want to change your wizard file as Tom has implemented some changes that I made which actually use file_exists to query whether an uploaded file is present on the server since ActionScript 2.0 always reports successful since it cannot receive messages back from the upload script….

Hi Ron,

Is this using code from the current Github repos or an older version? I did some work on this more recently on Github – I can advise you on the change involved.

Hi all
firstly apologies for not contributing much lately - simply been busy with other things.

However I'm delevering some xerte training to a group of 40 students next Tuesday and have just been completing some prep for that. I've upgraded my install recently and notice that if I add a video page and upload an mp4 via the editor for that page it suggests that it has worked but when I look in media and quota I see a file named process_moov.temp

If I upload the mp4 direct via media and quota the mp4 appears and all works fine.

But I guess this is all part of particularly John's work on streaming etc so any quick pointers? I dodn't have time to trawl through the archives and a quick search didn't reveal anything.

Cheers
Ron
