I also asked the people who make Agilo for Trac whether they would give an open source project a free license to their pro verison, and they are up for it (we can use the open source version of course). See below. We could use this, or we could use our own Agilo, or just trac.
What sort of experiences have you guys had with this sort of stuff?
Hi Julian,
Agilo for Trac is also Open Source, but most of its features are included in the Pro Version.
So we decided to offer you a free license, just let us know your username and how many users you need.
In exchange we would ask for a review on http://www.userstories.com/products/8-agilo-for-trac and we would like a link to our product on your project, as much feedback as you can give us would be highly appreciated.
We are trying to have as many Facebook likes and Tweets as possible about our products, so everything you can do in this regard would be great. :-)
I am looking forward to your reply.
Many greetings from Berlin
Vittoria

Hi,
I look after The Xerte Project (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte) which is an open source suite of tools for developing learning materials. It's getting quite successful now, and is used a lot. Our developer community has really picked up over the last twelve months (http://www.ohloh.net/p/xerteproject). We are looking at a more robust development process than the one we currently use (which is a bit like the cross your fingers, shut your eyes and hope for the best!).
I really like the look of Agilo for Trac. Is it available to open source projects for free? We exist on goodwill, and have no revenue, consequently we have no budget.
Many thanks for your time,
Julian

Some of the groups here have been using Trac to manage tickets: I've been really impressed with how they are using it. Do you think it would be good to use it ourselves? Basically, they are using it to manage a SCRUM approach to development, with tickets either being bugs / issues, or new feature requests. The tickets are then organised into a roadmap, and a series of code sprints. I think we need to do something to make our development process easier to manage and keep track of issues, and we keep talking about potential new features but don't always write them down anywhere?
What do you think?
