Hi Thomas
I've added some notes below about the HTML5 comments...

Subject: [Xerte-dev] MAXOS Import/Export problems with XoT 1.8
Good evening everyone,
I'm pleased to say that these are now largely resolved. Mainly because of the enhanced error reporting that seems to be available in IE 10 running on Windows 8, which pointed up some errors on my part and gave me some ideas for workarounds for others.
Here is a summary of what I did and what I found out inr terms of compatibility. If you're not familiar with W8 it comes in two flavours -Metro and Desktop. Metro doesn't support Flash or Java at all, but you can use them in the desktop version. IE 10 under metro does not natively play mp3 files either, you have to start up the music app in a separate window, so synchronisation is a bit of a problem.
In order to get the import function to work at all with files larger than about 6.5Mb I did the following:
1 Jacked up the php.ini default memory allocation from 8Mb to 64Mb
2 Made the \xampp\htdocs\toolkits\import drive shareable by 'Everyone' with full control
3 Added an entry in the httpd.conf file to all 'All' and 'Multiviews' on the above drive
I may not have needed to do all these.
I couldn't get "Page Types" (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/export_560) to load at all - blank file name and type reported. Put it in manually, exported it and then it re-imported OK.
I tried both Deployment and Archive export for the Page Types LO, both worked, but the Deployment export did not include the background image of the Trent Building.
Using IE 10 under Windows 8 (Not sure if there's any option under W8!)

The 'Contents' button at the top doesn't do anything except return you to the start of the module. Not even in backwards compastibility mode.

I get no sound from the Albert Einstein Interview, but there is no problem with the one on subtraction nor with Julian's Mandolin.

the HTML 5 version has some problems with IE 10 and W8 using the metro interface as follows:
============================================================================================
.mp3 isn't supported in IE 10 (Metro Version). You have to download the file and play it in the 'Music' app
.flv and flash components aren't supported at all of course. You have to download the file and play it back in a Desktop app.
JAVA isn't supported so no JMOL viewer either.
I get a message saying the browser does not fully support page 6 (the yellow path up Clag Glas). Not quite sure why unless there should be a sound file here
It uses the canvas html5 tag but it's currently set to use IE8 mode to solve a different problem and IE8 doesn't support that tag. I need to look into how I can avoid forcing it to IE8 without breaking other things
The link to slide share didn't work in page 27
I fixed a bug on this yesterday so this may now work using the new page model in svn
the Second Life video in page 49 works well with both sound and video. Maybe the answer to the earlier problems is to upload to YouTube and embed the link.
The popup contents menu DOES work
Using the 'Desktop' Interface for IE 10 there are fewer problems because flash and java are available

Still no sound from Albert Einstein
I don't think there is any sound for this video!
The subtraction demo in Page 213 works except that the controls don't show so you can't stop it. It just goes on indefinitely until you close the browser
I'll fix this now
The JMOL Viewer worked fine once I'd installed JAVA
The same is true for Slide share
My Apologies if none of this is 'news'
At least I've got something working for the demo tomorrow, but unless people are desperate out there I don't think there's any point in a full release until 1.9 arrives.
Kindest Regards,
Thomas
