Fay's just gone, but I tend to agree, this was probably conceived before we thought of internationalisation, and should now be in the language options.

Thanks for all your help Johnathan,

Subject: [Xerte-dev] Re: Text & Graphics page language question

The language stuff basically covers all the stuff that used to be hidden in the model.

Originally the language stuff just exposed in the xwd form the stuff like "Question 1 of 8" or button labels that had been defined in the model file.

Some pages already had some button labels exposed in the xwd form so was not originally included in the language stuff.

However once we have a standard for classing button labels as flagged in the xwd form with a language attribute, so they only show when the language check box is ticked then a good case could be made for adding this attribute to existing data items in the xwd form.

For me the clincher question is whether the text is likely to be the same for every iteration of the page you create - if it is then it is probably a language item.

With respect to the Text and Graphics model it certainly sounds strange to me to have a button label as an optional property.

I would personally consider the transcript button as a none optional property that was flagged with the language attribute, since every Text Graphic page in a learning object will all want to display "Transcript" on the transcript button.

Do you want to sort it or do you want me to take a look at it.

Kind regards

Johnathan

I think this is a question for you Johnathan.

Should 'Transcript Button Label' on the Text & Graphics model be in the Language Options instead of being an optional property? If you don't add the optional property then how do I get what the default text should be? I've come across this problem in making the HTML5 version of this page as if I don't add the optional property then I'm not sure where to check for the text to use - unless I'm misunderstanding something in how the translation stuff works.

Thanks
Fay
