[Syrphidae] Re: Eristalis papers

We flagged those seasonal differences of E. pertinax in the original (1983)
British Hoverflies book. Quite a few species show seasonal dimorphism and I
summarise it for British Cheilosia in the following paper:
Falk, S. J. 2004. Brood dimorphism in Cheilosia cynocephala Loew (Diptera,
Syrphidae) and
separation of the first generation from C. vernalis (Fallen). Dipterists
Digest, 11: 123-126.
Particularly well expressed in C. vulpina (conops was the summer
generation), proxima and pagana
Also strong in Myathropa florea, Meliscaeva auricollis and Dasysyrphus
albostriatus. Bivoltine Andrena bees have even more extreme examples e.g. A.
rosae and A. trimmerana:
