[Syrphidae] wing speed

Olavi Sotavalta did a brilliant study of this for Syrphids and a wide range 
of other insects in 1947. It appears in the Acta Entomologica Fennica 
publication.

What he found agrees with what Dr Gilbert just suggested: 110 to 330 Hz.
