For the record, I encountered C. ephippium at Otok (N45d44m E14d22m) =
during a survey in Slovenia on 4 June 2003. This is well within the =
range given for the species by Rozkosny and only about 200km from the =
nearest German border (although on the southern side of the Alps).
The site is a slightly raised area forming a permanently dry island in =
the seasonally flooded area of Cerknisko Jezero. Mixed woodland is =
interspersed with small areas of ungrazed limestone grassland/flower =
meadows. Two specimens were found sitting on a leaves amongst shade in a =
patch of dense broadleaved woodland with much dead/decaying wood =
present.
