OK. Makes sense. As indicated, I plan to attend in person.

Subject: [Reading-hall-of-fame] LRA

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are well and having a lovely day. Just wanted to share an update from LRA. As a result of inquiries from so many of you,I contacted David Yaden and the Board regarding having th RHoF Mentoring Session shared virtually. Below are excepts from his very gracious response. As a result, I have asked to have all of the names of those who contacted me about not attending, removed from the program. I know our mentoring session is so well attended because of your fabulous reputations. Hope we will be able to have a strong in person showing next year with Norm Stahl leading the charge.

Warmest regards,
Diane

David Yaden’s response.
"I completely understand yours and others' concerns about the safety of attending an in-person LRA meeting this year. The Board has been discussing these issues since the early spring, and, most recently, after weighing many options, made the difficult decision to move ahead with the in-person conference. We are sending out both an e-blast and newsletter in the next few days indicating that LRA will require the following onsite at the in-person annual meeting:

· Proof of vaccination at registration
· Wearing masks in all sessions
· Seating in sessions with at least 3’ of social distancing

The hotel also has its own health precautions in place https://whattoexpect.marriott.com/atlpl<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/whattoexpect.marriott.com/atlpl__;!!Dq0X2DkFhyF93HkjWTBQKhk!GgCnmBF0J9s_xe1yxQiJVnO61yWgBgJDmhAplu5i3LDuaRPLMrviAPfv2GfRoq9NUCw$>

Unfortunately, we will not have any virtual access this year to the conference in Atlanta as we did for the 2020 conference originally scheduled for Houston. It simply was financially impossible to support both the audio/visual requirements of an onsite conference and to build a simultaneous virtual platform. In short, LRA at this time has a budget only for one approach--not both. “

"I agree that on-going health conditions throughout the country and Georgia have raised legitimate concerns among some LRA members about attending the annual meeting. One solution to these challenges on site has been to require proof of vaccination, masking in all sessions, social distancing in seating arrangements, and other health precautions which we are pursuing with the hotel. We realize, however, that LRA cannot make complete guarantees of safety--try as we might. You have my best wishes to make those decisions which are in yours and RHoF's best interest."
