Shirley, David, and Brian, I agree with all that’s been written about Dianne Monson.  I also remember her as someone who could hold the attention of an audience large or small. The field was enlarged by her presence.

 Yes, I agree.  She knew children's literature and saw its value in enabling children (and adults!) to fall in love with reading.

We ---and the world of children's literature scholars-- will miss her.

Diane and I were both Minnesota Grads but we did not overlap.  I got to know her through NCTE work on reading.  Great colleague.  Completely devoted to  and knowledgeable about Children's Literature.
