Oh, such a loss! I was just reading one of Gordon's papers yesterday and remembering how kindly he addressed people's questions, In the end, it's the little things.

Oh dear! This is such dreadful news, and as all of us realize, we expect from time to time these days to hear sad tales, but when they come related to a persona so strong, personable, and prominent in the work of so many of us, it is such a reminder at this dreadful time in our world of just how precious every single day is. Gordon was a brilliant, helpful, gifted scholar who certainly helped so many of us when we were beginning our careers. I feel the world has shrunk into an even smaller tight ball of misery than it was yesterday by his loss and the overwhelming grief his family must be suffering. What a loss.

I was so sad to hear about Gordon Wells' death from Diane Stephens:
I am sorry to report that Gordon Wells was out biking, hit by a car, and killed. That is the only information I have except that his wife has not been well and recently had heart surgery. Gail Boldt, on whose committee I served and a friend, is Gordon’s neighbor.
