Dear Colleagues

Brian Cambourne and I have been working with a bunch of younger like-minded educators to establish a new Foundation for Learning and Literacy. The group comprise expert literacy educators from across Australia who have banded together to speak out about effective literacy teaching and learning practices in schools. Our Foundation is a non-aligned not-for-profit organisation which aims to provide easy access to expert, relevant quality information, resources, and advice on literacy education in Australian schools today. We will encourage parents, teachers, school leaders, journalists, politicians, and school community members to make contact and tap into this unique new resource.

The link to the Foundation is: https://foundationforlearningandliteracy.info<https://foundationforlearningandliteracy.info/>

We hope to launch the Foundation formally very soon so we encourage you to visit the website and read sections such About Us, Foundation Touchstones and Become a Friend. Then If you would like to consider adding your name as a ‘Friend of the Foundation’ please follow the simple steps to do so.

Friends of the Foundation:

1) acknowledge agreement with the Foundation Touchstones and advocate positively for them.
2) agree to their name and state if in Australia, or country if not in Australia, to be listed on the website as a Friend of the Foundation
3) provide their email to receive automated updates to the Foundation website content. (Note that their email will not be passed on to any third party)

Any suggestions, ideas and feedback on the Foundation for Learning and Literacy can be sent to learningandliteracy2020 at gmail.com<mailto:learningandliteracy2020 at gmail.com> or to the Co-Convenors: Professor Emerita Robyn Ewing<mailto:Robyn%20Ewing> (robyn.ewing at sydney.edu.au<mailto:(robyn.ewing at sydney.edu.au> and Jo Padgham jopadgham at iinet.net.au<mailto:jopadgham at iinet.net.au>.

Many thanks to all. Hoe to see many of you as a Friend of the Foundation.

Best wishes

Jan
