[Reading-hall-of-fame] Re: FW: PBS feature on "Dyslexia" and the "new approach" in Arkansas: A SUGGESTION FROM STEPHEN KRASHEN

Georgia's Senate Bill 48, which Governor Kemp signed into law yesterday
(May 2, 2019) "mandates dyslexia screening for every kindergartner. It
also requires future teachers to learn the latest research about how to
spot and help students who may have it" (
https://www.ajc.com/news/local-education/will-georgia-new-dyslexia-mandate-make-difference/fHvhukNqfwzvAyltySiEhP/
).
For those of us on this listserv who are planning to write to PBS on an
individual basis, I'd like to suggest the following ILA publication based
on the Literacy Research Panel's (LRP) collective thinking back in 2016. It
is titled *"Research Advisory Addendum: Dyslexia ~ Response to the
International Dyslexia Association."*
If memory serves me correctly, Peter Johnston and Gay Ivey were the heavy
hitters in pulling this LRP/ILA report together. (PJ or GI, am I
remembering correctly?)
https://www.literacyworldwide.org/docs/default-source/where-we-stand/ila-dyslexia-research-advisory-addendum.pdf?sfvrsn=85bca08e_4
In my opinion, the LRP/ILA Research Advisory Addendum is accessible by the
general public. Perhaps our PBS contacts might not have seen it (yet)?
