Good suggestion, David. I plan to write a response, too. While we may decide on a group response, our individual responses will represent the different perspectives that are represented in our comments to each other.
Also, Peter Afflerbach's reminder about the ILA statement on dyslexia is helpful for me. We have referred to that statement in the work developed at the state department in our state.

Subject: [Reading-hall-of-fame] dyslexia
After watching the segment on the NewsHour, I found that PBS has an Education/Parents site with much about dyslexia. I posted a comment there. See: http://www.pbs.org/parents/education/learning-disabilities/types/dyslexia/<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pbs.org%2Fparents%2Feducation%2Flearning-disabilities%2Ftypes%2Fdyslexia%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cvictoria.j.risko%40vanderbilt.edu%7C0cad5e13299d4a4a3a3808d6cef6f7f6%7Cba5a7f39e3be4ab3b45067fa80faecad%7C0%7C1%7C636923957465105522&sdata=7kEIy2votgEhiSoUsGC4mnFN2XeahCUBkXb%2FHMEf0%2BA%3D&reserved=0>
My comment doesn’t address the specific instructional issues, but instead emphasizes that there is not full consensus about what dyslexia is, whether it can be reliably identified, and whether there are instructional approaches unique to those believed to have it. I believe the general public first needs to become aware that these issues have been and remain open to reasonable debate among qualified scholars and knowledgeable practitioners.
By the way, last Fall NPR broadcast a discussion of dyslexia on Joshua Johnson's 1A show. It was more distressing than the NewsHour segment--basically a one-sided promotional for the misguided legislation we are now seeing in an increasing number of states. I wrote to NPR about that show too, but with no reply.
