Thanks for this Norm.
I agree with your observation that "certain forces in the USA at least are promoting a new campaign around this topic”.
 I would also suggest that:
(i) they’re extremely well organised.
(ii) they know how to apply Lakoff’s theory of “ Framing” and “ Narratives” to both social media and traditional media platforms
(iii) they’ve had years to do this and are about a decade ahead of groups like us when it comes to either rebutting their messages and/or getting an alternative message out there for teachers and school systems.
(iv) The days of the Enlightenment model of rational debate using trustworthy and credible research evidence to prove which hypotheses about pedagogy and classroom practice have most support are over. We now live in a Trumpian dystopian world of “alt facts” and conspiracy theories.

Down here is Oz we’re fighting similar battles.

As folks continue the discussion about the coverage of dyslexia....the following will be of interest...

The piece just popped from Edutopia....it is a regularly distributed electronic newsletter supported by George Lucas' foundation.

I would suggest that certain forces in the USA at least are promoting a new campaign around this topic. Once again I do urge folks in this country to look into becoming resources for the EWA.
