Subject: LRA Needs YOU
Greetings!
I hope this email finds you well in good health and spirits! I am currently LRA President-Elect and Conference Chair for the 2018 LRA Conference which will take place November 28-December 1 in Indian Wells, CA. I'm very excited about the new relationship between LRA and the Reading Hall of Fame and am looking forward to hosting your meeting at the conference.
I write to you today with a request and an invitation. First, the request. The success of our proposal review process depends on the expertise and experience of our reviewers. While it is great to have the enthusiasm and interest of new scholars and doctoral students who volunteer to review proposals, we NEED the guidance and input from the leaders in our field. If you haven't already, please consider signing up to review proposals for the 2018 conference. I have asked area chairs to assign reviewers a total of no more than 10 proposals. You can volunteer to review for up to 5 areas. For more information on how to sign up to be a reviewer, go to the LRA website at: http://www.literacyresearchassociation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=118:how-do-i-volunteer-to-be-a-chair--discussant-and-or-reviewer-&catid=20:site-content

Now, the invitation. In the spirit of full disclosure, I became a member of LRA in 2009 when I was a new assistant professor. I was immediately welcomed by so many of you, and I relished learning about the history of the organization. I also was energized by the possibilities for growth and change within the organization. I am so honored to be a part of the leadership during this time. I welcome and invite your feedback, support, and involvement as I plan the 2018 conference. I'd love to hear from you about your ideas or suggestions.
Thank you for leading the way and for helping to make LRA who and what we are today!
love and light,
Marcelle
(also, full disclosure: I'm a yoga teacher too.)
