Thank you, Jan, for a complete rundown on the business meeting. Before
learning of the RHF breakfast and business meeting's time slot, I had
committed to a panel organized by Steve Amendum and Gina Cervetti to
support graduate students' writing development. It overlapped with the
business meeting.
While it is an "excuse" on my part, I'm referencing it here to draw
attention to the possibility (as suggested in Jan's attached minutes) of
changing the day of the 2019 business meeting to earlier in the week.
Diane, as our current RHF President, would it be possible to also negotiate
a* time slot *for the session *during* the week that* does not conflict
with the plenaries? *Probably asking for a lot, but worth it?
*Here's another scenario:* schedule the research session and induction of
new members early in the afternoon on Wed. or Thurs., followed by the
business meeting (and delete the breakfast portion of the business meeting
entirely). In its place substitute coffee/tea and cookies at the end of the
research session/induction ceremony that could still be enjoyed at the
business meeting. This could work if we cut down on the length of the
new-inductee introductions. They're getting longer by the year.
Ray, thank you for your efforts in negotiating an excellent RHF breakfast.
It was delicious!
Sincerely,
Donna (Alvermann)
