[Reading-hall-of-fame] Important message- vote re moving RHoF meetings

Dear Reading Hall of Fame Colleagues:

Last spring, we sent a straw poll to the membership of the Reading Hall of Fame asking their preference for where we might hold the Annual Breakfast and Business Meeting as well as Inductee Presentations in the future.  The straw poll indicated a strong preference for moving the RHF Annual Breakfast and Business Meeting from the Annual ILA meeting to the Annual LRA meeting.  Following up on this straw poll, we opened up the matter to discussion among the RHF members attending this year's RHF Annual Breakfast and Business Meeting in July at the ILA Annual Meeting.  After the RHF Proposal Writing Sub-Committee established to consider the question of a move from ILA to LRA heard and discussed the feedback received from the straw poll and the ILA meeting in Florida, it was determined by this RHF Sub-Committee that it was time to put the question of moving the RHF Annual Breakfast and Business Meeting from ILA to LRA out to a binding vote of the RHF Membership.

We also believe that regardless of the outcome of the vote, RHF wants to maintain cordial and professional ties to ILA and any other literacy organizations through co-sponsored sessions and/or other presentations of research.  RHF would continue to submit a co-sponsored proposal for a traditional/historical, research/theory presentation session at LRA in addition to the RHF Breakfast/Business Meeting and the RHF Inductee Presentation session.
