Dear Ray and RHF members, I am delighted with the news about LRA and its acceptance of our proposal. Many thanks to Gay and to other members of the committee (Colin Harrison, David Pearson, Bill Teale, and Don Leu) that worked to develop this proposal). I look forward to our first official meeting at LRA in 2018.

Dear RHF Colleagues:

Please see below the good news about LRA accepting our proposal to move the RHF Annual Breakfast Meetings to LRA. I’ll be working with LRA leadership to get our first meeting at LRA into shape for next year.

Best,

Ray

Subject: Decision on RHF Proposal to LRA

Dear Ray,

I am delighted to inform you that today the LRA Board of Directors voted unanimously to accept the Reading Hall of Fame's proposal to permanently move its annual meeting to LRA annual conference, beginning with the 2018 conference in the Indian Wells Renaissance Hotel near Palm Springs.

As a reminder, in our proposal, we requested the following:

The RHF asks for a continuing arrangement in which LRA provides space in the conference facilities to hold their annual induction and business breakfast meeting. Specifically, the RHF would like to hold its meeting on Saturday morning of the conference, prior to and not conflicting with LRA concurrent sessions. Members of the Reading Hall of Fame would cover the costs of their food & beverage, and per current LRA policy, these charges would be paid directly to the hotel by RHF, but they would be applied to LRA’s minimum food & beverage expenditure requirement as contracted with the hotel.

In addition, the RHF asks for an annual presentation slot for new RHF members, preferably in the concurrent session time slot following the RHF breakfast meeting time. During the 2017 conference, this time period is devoted to informational and mentoring sessions rather than vetted research sessions. A session featuring the work of new RHF members would fit well into this plan. The session would be open to all interested LRA attendees.

The RHF would communicate with the LRA Conference Chair on the details and arrangements related to these events.

As a point of information, the chair of the 2018 LRA Conference will be Marcelle Haddix.

I hope the members of the RHF will be happy with this news.
