Indeed, Ira was a southern gent, teacher and friend. He was very generous to me. When my son was a little guy, like 3 to 9, Ira gave him a Georgia bulldog t-shirt every year. I was very touched. He will be missed. Patty

Ken, beautifully stated. And Dr. Aaron would talk about you to the doctoral students in his seminars.

In those days (early '80s), a new assistant professor in the department who would one day teach doctoral courses was invited/required to sit in on his doctoral seminars. I learned so much from him.

The basal reader guy and the whole language guy--friends! That message is as clear to me tonight as it was when I first heard him praise your work. You are spot on: "He represented an era in IRA when it was a platform for all voices."

What a fitting tribute, Ken. So you...too.

I agree as well.

We lost another Reading Hall of Fame member today. I just learned 10 minutes ago that Ira Aaron passed away today. My dean's office let me know. Will try to get the obituary posted when it is ready. Meanwhile, Ira's passing is such a loss. He was a true leader and a southern gent all the way.

Hi Victoria,
I support Ron Carver’s posthumous induction on the Reading Hall of Fame. If my memory serves me correctly, his work on ‘Auding’ was highly regarded at the time.
