Hello everyone! I hope that this note finds you well and enjoying the beginnings of September!

It is time to nominate new members for election into the Reading Hall of Fame. Please email me your nominations, sent directly to me at victoria.j.risko at vanderbilt.edu, on or before Friday, September 23, 2016. Please do not send your nominations to our group email address.

Background information:

At the Summer 2015 meeting, we passed two motions affecting our nomination procedures. These two motions were:

1. We will elect five living (new) members who are eligible for membership, two of whom will be non-U.S. nationals with permanent residence outside of the United States.
2. We may elect deceased professionals who are eligible for membership; names of these nominees will appear on a second ballot. Votes will be in the form of a yes-no vote, and there is no limit to numbers.

Procedures for nomination:

Here is the information you need as you prepare your submissions.

1. Per bylaws, send names of nominations of potential new members, both living and deceased. Include non-U. S. nationals in your nominations. I have attached our membership lists for 2015-2016 current members and our deceased members.
2. Submit the name and affiliation of each person you are nominating and a 150-word description of the nominee's contributions to the field. Please indicate if your nominee is deceased.
3. Our bylaws include the following criteria:
 - at least twenty-five years of active involvement in the field
 - Reputation: widely known and respected by people in the profession.
 - Contributions:
… authorship of publications, including reports of significant research;
… performance in positions of responsibility;
… preparation of leaders in the field through his/her teaching;

Thank you for your contributions to this process. Once I have the nominations, I will generate the ballots and we will have two rounds of voting, primary and final voting. The goal is to complete the voting by the end of October.

Again, please email me your nominations, sent directly to me at victoria.j.risko at vanderbilt.edu, on or before Friday, September 23, 2016. Please do not send your nominations to our group email address.

If you have any questions, please contact me by email or phone (615-498-3739).

Best wishes to you and I look forward to hearing from you and moving forward with this nomination process,

Vicki
