I reponded perhap too quickly to Roger Farr.
The Reading Hall of Fame has a history quite separate from IRA. The
original impetus came from a magazine editor who nominated the original
members who quickly disassociated from the originator. Since then it has
always chosen its own members and lived by its own rules. IRA did provide
housing for its documents and we have paid them for some secretarial
service. IRA meetings have been a convenient place to hold our annual
breakfasts and over time newly elected members were asked to present at a
session at IRA each year. We are not part of IRA or ILA nor have we ever
been.
Inidentally, at same point in the past, the members decided that there were
a group of deceased important figues who should have been included so our
list of deceased members inlcludes names with asterisks designated as
pioneers (Recently we combined all the lists of non living membersinto one
list)
