Hi everyone

This is a resend of a message I tried to send out ten days ago.

It is relevant and important for every member who might want to pay their dues via a UK bank transfer or a cheque in UK pounds.

If you want to do this, it would help if you were able to action your payment within the next seven days.

Many thanks.

Best regards

Colin

Subject: Pay your Reading Hall of Fame dues in UK pounds

Greetings esteemed Reading Hall of Fame members

I'm now starting to receive payments in UK pounds for RHoF dues relating to the new lifetime membership subscription that Tim Rasinski told you about a few months ago.

If you're not in the US, and you'd like me to help you make the payment for the current year, plus the lifetime subscription that begins in January, I'm happy to help, since I have bank accounts in both the US and the UK. The total fee in dollars is $125, and the rate I'm offering is £102.20, which was the rate when the most recent member paid me. If the pound continues to slide, I'll not vary this. It would be too complicated, and I'll take the hit. It's actually the date on 1 December that matters, and we can't predict that at this point.

If you want to use me as a convenient channel for paying in pounds rather than dollars, I'm offering two solutions:

Route 1: If you have an electronic bank account that is capable of transferring funds in UK pounds to a UK account provided that you have the sort code and bank account name and number, please send an email to my university email account requesting Route 1, and I'll then send you details of my account, to which you need to point the £102.20. I'll send you a confirmation email when the sum hits my account, and will copy this confirmation to Vicki and to Tim. I'll also get Tim to email you a second confirmation when the dollar amount hits the RHoF account.

Route 2: If you have a cheque book (or even a check book) that is drawn in UK pounds on a UK bank, and wish to pay by cheque, this is fine too.
In this case, please send an email to my university email account requesting Route 2, and I'll then send you details of my home address to which you need to send the cheque for the £102.20. I'll send you a confirmation email when the sum in the cheque hits my account, and will copy this confirmation to Vicki and to Tim. I'll also get Tim to email you a second confirmation when the dollar amount hits the RHoF account.

I'm sorry, but I won't be able to handle any currencies other than UK pounds. (Of course, if you want to give me dollars or pounds in cash, that would work too.)

Either way, please do NOT hit the REPLY button to this message if you're wanting to request Route 1 or Route 2. Instead, please generate a new email to colin.harrison at nottingham.ac.uk<mailto:colin.harrison at nottingham.ac.uk>.

I'll be leaving for the US on 29 November, so I would need to have Route 1 funds in my bank by 28 November, and any Route 2 cheques cleared by that point.

I hope that's clear.

Apologies for adding to the email load of every member, but I recall that when we last broached this topic there were colleagues from many nations who were interested in such a transaction.

Best regards

Colin
