[Reading-hall-of-fame] Mike McKenna

Dear Reading Hall of Fame Members:


 Sharon Walpole sent an email this morning indicating that Mike McKenna died yesterday, December 13.  I share some of her email with you - and as she indicates, Mike McKenna was a special person and professional.


 "With a heavy, heavy heart, I ask you to join me in remembrance and in celebrating a life well lived. Mike McKenna passed peacefully last night. I have been blessed to be with him and his family since he fell ill unexpectedly at Thanksgiving.  Mike was a renaissance man. We have taken great comfort in the stories shared by people he touched and in the music and poetry that meant so much to him. None of us has been able to remember a single harsh word or unkindness from him.  He will live on in our hearts, and in the work of the many teachers he has influenced."  (Sharon Walpole)



If you wish to send condolences, Mike's wife, Beverly, lives in their family home at 4 Tiller Point Savannah GA 31419.  Services will be held in Savannah at White Bluff Presbyterian Church.  Arrangements are not yet complete.

Mike was inducted into the Reading Hall of Fame last summer, 2017.
