[Reading-hall-of-fame] REMINDER: RHoFame nomination of new members due September 30 - October 5, 2015

Hi everyone,

I am resending my earlier note as a reminder that nominations for new members for election to the Reading Hall of Fame are due! Please nominate leaders who have inspired you and whose work has made a difference for all of us.

Please email your nominations to me by the end of the day, Monday, October 5, 2015.

I have been traveling for a few weeks but now home and look forward to hearing from you!  And thank you for those of you who have already submitted your nominations!!

Here is the information you need as you prepare your submissions.

Send your nominations directly to me  at: victoria.j.risko at vanderbilt.edu   Please do not send your nominations to our group email address.

We passed two motions at the Summer 2015 meeting of the RHofF that relate to the procedures for bringing in new members.  Per those decisions, we will  proceed as follows.

First, we will elect five living members who are eligible for membership, two of whom will be non-U.S. nationals with permanent residence outside the United States.

Second, we may elect deceased professionals who are eligible for membership; names of these nominees will appear on a second ballot.

The current Reading Hall of Fame membership list is attached.  A list of deceased members is also available on the Reading Hall of Fame website.  (see website details and address below)

For your nominations:

1. Submit the name and affiliation of each person you are nominating and a 150 - word description of the nominee's contributions to the field.  Please indicate if your nominee is deceased.
2.  Our bylaws include the following criteria:

 - at least twenty-five years of active involvement in the field

 - Reputation: widely known and respected by people in the profession.

 - Contributions:
… authorship of publications, including reports of significant research;
… performance in positions of responsibility;
… preparation of leaders in the field through his/her teaching;


Thank you for your work on this.  Once I have the nominations, I will generate the two ballots and we will have two rounds of voting, primary and final voting.  The goal is to complete the voting by the end of October.
