[Reading-hall-of-fame] Season's Greetings and Reading Hall of Fame-Announcements

To Hall of Fame Members:



Much has happened since our July meeting in St. Louis, and I'm taking this opportunity to share some important announcements about RHF events and activities.

1. There will be a co-sponsored RHF session at the the American Reading Forum (ARF) on Sanibel Island, FL (December 9-12, 2015.  The proposal was submitted by Donna Alvermann and titled: Academic Grandparents: Things They Never Thought to Tell Us.   Presenters include:  David Reinking, Donna Alvermann, and  George Hruby, Christine Mallozzi, Mona Matthews, Gary Moorman (chair).  Thank you, Donna!



2. The Supporting Your Scholars Mentoring Program Committee will soon begin soliciting applications for this special recognition.  The SYS committee members include:  Jeanne Paratore and Jim Baumann (co-chairs); Camille Blachowicz, Stuart McNaughton, Donna Ogle, and Sheila Valencia.  Many thanks to each of these individuals for agreeing to serve.   Thanks also to those whose term has expired for their outstanding service as committee members:  Jill Fitzgerald, Colin Harrison, and Jim Hoffman.



3. Tim Rasinski, Treasurer, will be sending a request for dues early in 2016.  We strongly encourage all members to respond to this request.  The funds are important for maintaining our mentoring program and for the ongoing operation of the RHF.



4. Newsletter:  You can access the Fall newsletter on the RHF website - it includes up-to-date information about the various activities of the organization. 5. Please note that if you change your email address,  you should notify either Vicki Risko (Secretary) or Tim Rasinski (Treasurer) and also Colin Harrison (who manages our listserv) so that we can update our RHF records.



6. As you know, two of our members died this past year -- Arthur Applebee and Alan Farstrup.  Thank you for your tributes and messages of sympathy to friends and family.   And again, we acknowledge their many contributions to the literacy field.



Finally, thank you for all you do to represent us as an organization.  Best wishes for a peaceful, happy, and

 healthy 2016.
