Reading Hall of Fame colleagues,
I'd like to invite you to the last of TextProject's CCSS webinars for this academic year: I will be presenting on "Using Quantitative Measures of Text Complexity in Classroom Instruction: What's appropriate? What's not?" The presentation makes the distinction between single measures of text complexity (e.g., Lexiles) and specific measures (e.g., the rare vocabulary in a text) for use in classrooms.
This webinar is the fifth in our CCSS series at TextProject. The four previous webinars are all available at TextProject's YouTube channel: P. David Pearson (Research and the Common Core: Can the Romance Survive?), Tim Shanahan (CCSS and Education Policy), Karen Wixson (Key Shifts in Assessment and Instruction Related to CCSS-ELA), and Nell Duke (Informational Text and the CCSS: Pitfalls and Potential).
The series will resume in the fall with Sheila Valencia speaking about tasks, readers, and texts.
Please join us (and do use the webinar series in university courses and professional development)--
