HI Colin and Ray,
Ray, it would be great to put an announcement in the upcoming RHF newsletter. I believe I wrote a short article about the mentoring program - and sent it to you. Describing where individuals can access the various forms (description, application, flyer) would also be helpful.
Colin, I think it would be fine to post on the RHOF website - we want folk who are not HOF members to be able to access the information - get the application. Young scholars do not need to be students of HOF members; they will be mentored by HOF members though. Also, if folk can access the information from the web, it will help me a great deal. I don't want to be the sole source for the application, etc. Let me know if there is a problem with this -
Thanks so much! Rita

Hi Colin,
Do you think it would be well for us to post this information on the RHF website as well? Also, should I put some kind of announcement of this program, shortened of course, in the upcoming RHF Newsletter?

Subject: [Reading-hall-of-fame] Supporting Young Scholars (SYS) Mentoring Program
Dear Reading Hall of Fame Member:
Recently, President Donna Ogel appointed a committee of RHOF members to develop procedures for a mentoring program for young scholars. The committee members worked over the summer to develop guidelines and an application form and are pleased to share that information with you. Attached are (a) a description of the program; (b) an application form to be completed by candidates for the program; and (c) a one-page flyer describing the program. We ask your help in promoting the program. Please post the flyer, distribute copies of it at any professional meetings you attend or send it to your colleagues; you may also want to encourage your advanced doctoral students to apply for the program.
We ask that you read the materials, and if you are interested in serving as a mentor, please let us know by sending an email to Rita Bean (ritabean at pitt.edu<mailto:ritabean at pitt.edu>) who is serving as chair of the committee. Also, we plan to send a note sometime in February 2013, asking members whether they are interested in serving as a mentor for scholars identified in Summer, 2013. Please get in touch if you have any questions about the Supporting Young Scholars (SYS) Mentoring Program.
Many thanks
Rita Bean
