I remember Don's first trip to Australia in 1981 very well. He changed
the way we thought about and taught children to write forever. I can
still recall his response to a kindergarten teacher who asked him
"What will happen to my children who after a year in my class
experiencing the wonderful way you advise us to teach writing, get
traditional teachers for the next 6 years of their schooling"?
Don's paused thoughtfully for a minute and responded " I think one
year's health in 6 years of illness would be a good thing".
