(We posted this message to the NRC listserv but we want to put it
here as well just in case we might miss someone who is not on that
list and would like to participate).

This year marks the retirement of two of our esteemed colleagues:
Alan Farstrup as Executive Director of the International Reading
Association and Cathy Roller as Director of Research and Policy for
the IRA. We are gathering at NRC in Albuquerque to honor these two
individuals for the contributions they have made to the reading
profession and to reading research. We hope you will join us in this
celebration.

We are planning a dinner (and a few surprises) at the Doubletree
Hotel in Albuquerque on Thursday night starting at 8:00 pm - just
after the close of the NRC Town Meeting.

We require notice in advance of your plans to attend in order to get
an accurate estimate of those who wish to participate. The cost of
the dinner (and the evening) will be $50 dollars per person. We need
to have a firm number of participants to the hotel by Nov. 10th.
Payment can be made at the conference. We will provide receipts for
the cost of the dinner for those of you who require them.

This event is not sponsored formally by the NRC as part of the
program but the organization is facilitating our work with the hotel
in making arrangements.

planning, please write to me or any member of the planning committee
off of the NRC listserv.
