Thank you for this kind invitation. As the event will take place during the teaching term of my university I will have to discuss with my colleagues and manager whether it would be possible to get teaching cover.

Can you let me know what the expected outputs of the event will be? Is there a plan to publish a high profile paper from it or link it to a special issue? The reason I am asking is that it would make it much easer for me to persuade colleagues (and myself) to take a week out of my normal activities, if there is a clear academic payback from it.

On behalf of IVADO, I am delighted to invite you to be a speaker at our upcoming workshop, Putting AI to Work to Promote Certain Values, taking place in Québec City from the 19th to the 23rd of October 2026. This event will be held in person and is part of IVADO’s AI Governance Thematic Semester, an interdisciplinary research program convening leading scientists from across Humanities and Computer Science to address key challenges and opportunities to explore the multiple facets of AI governance and the various meanings of this notion, by examining the issues specific to different levels and spaces of governance, the challenges arising in particular sectors, and the values that should be advanced through governance mechanisms.

About the Workshop
This workshop is organized by:

This workshop aims to examine the value systems at work in artificial intelligence technologies. The large-scale deployment of language models capable of generating content (text, images, video, and music) is accompanied by imaginaries and worldviews that reflect particular choices and hierarchies of values. Moreover, the logics, particularly economic ones, that underpin these models raise significant questions, especially as they are increasingly used in public services and, more broadly, in everyday life (for example, the use of personal data within a framework of surveillance capitalism).

Topics may include:
