Dear Ian
I was very sorry to hear the sad news of Barbara's death. Our paths crossed many times, and I always felt we came from the same place and acted as allies in matters of maths education. In particular I much admired her work with teachers, and her leadership of international groups of researchers, as well as always personally enjoying her company. I was also grateful for her obtaining for me as a great surprise an honorary degree from Loughborough.
I don't sadly think I will be able to get to any memorial occasion in person, but please let me know if there is any other way I can contribute.
Best wishes
Margaret
