Dear colleagues, it is with great sadness that I should let you know of the sad passing of Julian Williams, my friend and colleague for many years. Unfortunately, last week he died after a period of illness.
Julian, was a major influence and support to so many of us who knew and worked with him in Manchester and around the world for many years – over four decades.  Many colleagues have been in touch to express their sadness and kind thoughts. This has been very much appreciated by the Manchester team and colleagues especially his partner Julie who very much appreciates the very kind wishes she has received.
It is hoped to have a celebration of Julian’s massive contribution to mathematics education at some point in the future. We will let you know.
