The ERASMUS+ Project in Citizenship and Mathematics (PiCaM) run from SHU attempts to invoke a notion of citizenship based on shared values of inclusivity and equity for all. It aims to embed global learning content in mathematics curriculum materials (10-12 years) using participatory pedagogies and developing social, civic and intercultural competences and critical thinking. Taking the classroom materials from PiCaM as exemplars, this workshop and seminar will examine the difficulties and dilemmas faced in mathematics curriculum development which has social justice intentions and which incorporates teaching for global citizenship.
