Dear all
Loughborough University is currently advertising a "Studentship with Associated Teaching Assistantship in Statistics".
This is a new kind of post concocted by the University. It's essentially a part time PhD studentship combined with a part time teaching post. The idea is that the successful candidate does a PhD in five years while teaching statistics part time (no more than 2 days per week). The salary is between £24k and £29k, and tuition fees are covered. For reasons I don't understand, the PhD has to be related to either mathematical modelling, imaging science or mathematics education.
Because of the teaching requirements, experience of teaching statistics and/or a strong statistical background is desirable.
There are a number of possible phd projects listed at this site, but any topic related to the work of the Mathematics Education Centre is possible:

Do contact potential supervisors in the MEC if you're interested in applying. Details about phd study with us are here:

Please pass this on to anyone who you think might be interested.
Thanks
Matthew
