BSP (Braithwaite Steiner Pretty) in Sydney Australia have been engaged by the Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) to search for their new Executive Director to replace Professor Peter Taylor who will be retiring in late 2012.
The Trust is a highly successful national not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to enrich the teaching and learning of mathematics for students of all levels of interest and aptitude and the role of the executive director is central to the AMT's mission.
The Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) conducts the Australian Mathematics Competition, and incorporates the Australian Mathematics Olympiad and the Australian Informatics Olympiad Committees. It also administers mathematical enrichment activities for Australian and international students and publishes books and digitised materials to support mathematical enrichment.
The executive director is accountable to the Chair of the Board for the overall running of the AMT, with operational responsibilities for management, administration and financial well-being, and strategic responsibilities for the organisation's profile and maintenance and growth of its activities.
The successful candidate will be someone who is passionate about mathematics and has the ability to manage a business undertaking, good communication skills, and a sound academic record in teaching and research sufficient to merit appointment at Professorial level at the University of Canberra. The AMT is located in Canberra, within the University of Canberra precinct.
Please note the closing date for applications is 16 December 2011 with a position start date late in 2012.
I have attached a web link to the Information Booklet which provides details about the Trust, the role and the selection criteria which are listed on page 8. http://www.bspes.com/go/EDAMT.pdf/
