Presentation on GeoGebra, a dynamic mathematics system for educational use
Markus Hohenwarter of the Department for Mathematics and Computer Science
Education at the University of Salzburg will give a presentation on
GeoGebra, followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion, on
Friday 7 October.
GeoGebra is a dynamic mathematics system that links geometry, algebra and
calculus. It has been developed as open-source software for educational use
in secondary schools, and has received several international awards
including the European and German educational software awards. The research
project on which Markus is currently working, GeoGebra - Development of
Educational Material and Applications in Mathematics Teaching, is supported
by the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Further information is available at
<http://www.geogebra.at/>.
The presentation will take place on Friday 7 October 2005 from 14.00 to
15.30 in Room 2S8 in the New Faculty Building. All students and staff of
the Faculty, and others with an interest in this topic are welcome to
attend. Please let Sally Roach <saer2 at cam.ac.uk> know that you intend to do
so, to allow us to ensure the smooth running of the session. Further
information is available from Zsolt Lavicza <zl221 at cam.ac.uk> or Kenneth
Ruthven <kr18 at cam.ac.uk>.
