Lectureship in Primary/Early Years Education
Closing date for application: 02 Dec 2005
Please quote reference number 05G0252
The School of Education at the University of Southampton is seeking to
appoint a well-qualified and experienced Lecturer in Primary/Early Years
Education to take up appointment on 1st February 2006. The person
appointed will contribute principally to teaching on the BA Education
and Training (QTS) programme and/or the primary PGCE.
Our new BA Education and Training (QTS) programme is a two-year
part-time programme (level 3) which offers a progression route for
students who have completed a relevant Foundation Degree. The programme
is taught during evening sessions. We recruit strongly from our existing
Foundation Degree entitled Working with Children.
For this lecturer post you should have evidence of relevant research, or
research potential (alternatively, a "Teaching Fellow" post is available
without the research element).
More information about our teaching programmes and research can be found
on our website:

The person and job specifications (available for download - see link
below) contain a profile of the potential appointee. Candidates will
need to have real credibility with trainee teachers, teachers, other
professionals, and the professional bodies in the field of Primary/Early
Years education and a commitment to contributing to very high standards
of teacher training in a research-led environment.
