Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the journal For the
Learning of Mathematics now has an easier way for
those outside Canada to subscribe. Personal
subscriptions can now be paid by credit card. For full
information, and a form you can download, fill in, and
fax or mail, please go to http://flm.math.ca and click
on FAQ at the bottom of your screen.

There are also sample articles (under Extras) and a
complete index of all articles on the site.

FLM is published three times a year, in March, July
and November. It was created by David Wheeler 25 years
ago, and aims to stimulate reflection on mathematics
education at all levels, and promote study of its
practices and its theories: to generate productive
discussion; to encourage enquiry and research; to
promote criticism and evaluation of ideas and
procedures current in the field. It is intended for
the mathematics educator who is aware that the
learning and teaching of mathematics are complex
enterprises about which much remains to be revealed
and understood.

Please spread the word. The FLM Board of Directors is
aware that many people have been frustrated in their
efforts to subscribe by the rising costs of
international bank drafts and money orders, and we
hope that providing this alternative way to subscribe
will encourage many past subscribers to re-subscribe,
and many new subscribers to discover one of the most
interesting and thought provoking journals in the
field of mathematics education.

It would also be helpful for you to encourage your
library to subscribe, if it doesn't already. Libraries
should contact the managing editor, Elaine Simmt, for
information about institutional subscriptions, at
flm2 at ualberta.ca.

If you have missed some volumes and want to complete
your set, back issues are also available, and can also
be paid for by credit card. Contact the managing
editor for rates and other information.

Sincerely,

David Reid
Chair, FLM Board of Directors
