The following advertisement for positions in mathematics education
the School of Scientific and Developmental Studies in Education at
Deakin University appeared in the Melbourne Age on Saturday 15
September and the Australian on Wednesday 19 September.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION
The Faculty of Education is a leading provider of pre-service,
postgraduate, higher degree by research and professional development
programs. Courses are offered to on-campus students in Melbourne,
Geelong and Warrnambool and to off-campus students throughout
Australia and overseas.
The Faculty has a number of positions available for well-qualified,
innovative and enthusiastic staff who can contribute to its teaching,
research and professional development programs. All applicants should
have recent teaching or other substantial experience in schools and
be able to contribute to the Faculty's undergraduate and postgraduate
programs. Applicants for Level B positions should possess a relevant
Doctorate or substantial progress towards completion or have
equivalent experience, and be able to contribute to Masters programs,
undertake doctoral supervision, and make a strong contribution to
research and development.
Appointments to positions listed below will be dependent on the
appointments made to previously advertised senior positions in the
Faculty.
All positions advertised are full-time and continuing, commencing in
February 2002. Part-time appointments may be considered and
applicants should indicate their interest in a part-time appointment
in their application.
SCHOOL OF SCIENTIFIC AND DEVELOPMENTAL STUDIES IN EDUCATION
Lecturer in Education (Mathematics Education) - Academic Level B
(two positions)

Salary Range: $60 080 - $71 344 p. a. (includes 17% superannuation)
The successful applicants will teach in mathematics education, and
preferably also in information technology education. Applicants
must have a strong background in mathematics and preferably also in
information technology. Tertiary qualifications in mathematics are
desirable, as is a strong background in primary mathematics education.
